Seattle Publishing | Experience

Project Highlights

From Northwest nonprofits to Fortune 500 companies, Seattle Publishing works with a variety of markets and organizations. Below are some of our favorite projects for this year.

Periodical Publishing

For thirty-five years, we have designed, managed and distributed The Bicycle Paper, our own publication. By using our database-driven publishing technology, we produce two 72 page specialty guides and eight 16 page print and 9 web issues on an annual basis. From our editor’s desk-top, news and events are flowed to both the print and web editions without having to rework the content. Production receives the formatted content to flow into the InDesign file. Once this is completed then it is off to the printer and on to the web.

Database-Driven Publishing

Seattle Publishing customized the Gutenberg Publishing System® to meet Tacoma Screw Products database-driven publishing needs. They now have a central repository for all catalog content, including text, images, pricing, and advertising. Tacoma Screw Products uses Gutenberg to publish their annual catalog, and was looking to expand into other publications in the coming years.

On-Demand Publishing

In an industry where the availability of a product catalog often means the difference between making a sale and losing one, Matthew Rowley knew that Automotive and Industrial Supply (AIS) was missing opportunities. With a small staff and no publishing experience, they needed an affordable solution.

After contacting one of AIS’s suppliers, whose catalog caught his eye, Matthew found Seattle Publishing. With one call, he expressed his desire for a cost-effective publication, and we began outlining a three-step process to fit his budget and provide the catalog in a timely manner.

With a turnaround time of four weeks, Matthew’s idea went from need to solution in time to impact AIS’s sales.

Website Publishing

South Slope Productions needed a database-driven website that would be easy for them to update yet provide online tools for their website visitors. Working with South Slope’s web designer to select web safe colors, we then programmed their FileMaker database to flow the data to the web. With our smart map technology, visitors to the site can locate a specific map of a winery and then have driving directions provided.

Database Development

The marketing department of TALYST (an Pharmacy automation leader) approached us to build a custom FileMaker database to track projects that are being constantly planned and implemented throughout the year. TALYST decided that our experience in FileMaker and managing of projects was a good fit. By bringing our publishing insights, we developed a database tool that was easy to use and kept TALYST’s marketing communication projects on track.
